Hello!
I am Isaac Dixon and I am running to be YOUR FJCL 2025-2026 President. This page of my website will give you a little introduction into me. If you have any questions at all, whether they are about my campaign, the FJCL, food, books, the production of aluminum cans, or anything else, please feel free to ask me!
Fun Facts
- My favorite FJCL Constitution Article is the second because that's what everything is really all about.
- My favorite FJCL memory is at my first in person state forum. I felt nervous, I felt like I was alone in a big scary organization that I wanted to be a part of and I had interacted with in the past, but I just really didn't know how to get started. Just experiencing all of the people who reached out to me and helped me get involved is my favorite memory.
- I am playing certamen at states.
- I have been told that if I were a soda I would be Starry (the knockoff Sprite).
- I might be slightly addicted to coffee.
- I am a food connoisseur, and I love to cook

My JCL Experience
National Forums
Since Covid-19, I have attended three in-person national forums. The first one I really spent most of my time in Certamen as part of the novice team and there's a lot of fun in that. I really enjoyed it. It was really good working as a team and honing my skills and I think I became a much better player and person for it. And then at my second forum, I wasn't on the state competitive certamen team so I pretty much did everything else nationals had to offer. I did creatives and I did as much Ludi and Olympika as I could fit into my schedule, in addition to competing in open certamen. It was a really fun experience that showed me a side of the JCL that I hadn't really seen before and that I really enjoy and hope to participate in more in the future. At my third forum, I did more with parts of the JCL besides certamen, and I had officer duties. My duties included working closely with the national parliamentarian and the President of the FJCL to run the election process.

States
States is one of the most fun things that I do all year (maybe that says something about me as a person or maybe it says something about how fun states is). It's on of the most engaging, inclusive, and wonderful communities I've ever been a part of. It has driven my love for so many things from history to classics to declamations and even driving my dedication and discipline. States is very meaningful and important to me in a really big way.
Certamen
Certamen is (and I do not put this lightly,) super cool. It is a really competitive game which I relate to a lot (maybe a little too much, I have a tendency to be a little competitive), and it also tests your discipline and dedication. It really is a case where victory and success comes almost entirely from how hard you work at it and I think that's a really amazing thing. As an organization, as a community, and as a topic, certamen takes everything I love about the FJCL and takes it to a whole new level.
OHJCL Trips
The 2023 Spain trip is the second of three international trips that I've been lucky enough to go on with the OHJCL (the first being Rome). All of the trips were really important formative experiences for me. The Rome trip is really what ignited my relationship with the FJCL and really began this important part of who I am today, and quite frankly, ignited my love for the classics and for history more than pretty much anything else. The Spain trip, on the other hand, really propelled me to push further, it introduced me to life experiences. More than anything else, it let me get to know the people around me in the OHJCL a lot better and I think because of that I consider the Spain trip a deeply important influence in my life. The Italy trip occurred over spring break this year (literally last week), and it was incredible. My favorite parts were the Vatican museum and the great food. If I went again, I would spend more time in the Vatican and get more authentic Italian food.
My Leadership Experience
National Constitution Award
At the 2023 Emory National Forum, I was awarded the first place award for local constitutions. I'm really very proud of the OHJCL constitution - more than just being the award, but also for winning with a perfect score. It really was a labor of love from everyone involved. It started being drafted my first year as an OHJCL officer (The MS liaison back then), a drafting in which I took an active and important role, and last year as the OHJCL Parli, I pushed through a set of five significant deep reaching and far ranging amendments that really makes it a wonderful constitution (I think). These amendments really helped define and shape its character and led to the wonderful thing that happened at nationals last year, which I, by no means, expected to happen. In general I'd just like to say that it feels good to be recognized, but that's not really what it was about. It was a group effort and it felt good that with so many of us working together to get that constitution to happen, I'm glad that it ended up winning the awards and getting the recognition that it did.
OHJCL Parli

I was the OHJCL Parliamentarian two terms ago and I worked hard to push through a packet of five amendments to the constitution. I have presided over several significant elections as well. I think I've done a really good job and I think I've helped shape the constitutional culture at Oak Hall, which I am very proud of. I believe that I can bring that same energy that has been so successful at my local delegation to the FJCL. I'll apply it in various areas throughout the organization.
FJCL Parli
This past year, I was honored by you all electing me to the office of FJCL Parliamentarian. My duties include managing the election process and working with my fellow officers to make sure the organization runs smoothly. My favorite thing about being parli is being able to work with my fellow board members and being able to help my constituents whenever they have issues.
Other Leadership Experiences
I have done a lot of things with leadership, although the JCL has always been my top priority. I have been involved with the leadership of six student organizations at my school along with a nationwide book club. I have also served in some overall leadership positions at my school including class president.
